Just a thing, My Nathaniel and His "uncle" Malcohm. 
This had a lot to do with his up bringing, and events that are to come and to develop in his life.
With him living in the shadow or the ghost of his late "uncle" (I use quotes, because Nate is adopted.) He eventually has a lot of issues along the line of feeling he isn't truly apart of the family, not being blood related and all that.
